This week I thought I’d address Skin Cancer. It is the most common cancer. Many of us, including myself, do not take care of our skin as we should. There are many small things to do to prevent yourself from becoming a statistic.
Skin cancer accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the United States. More than 1 million cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are found in this country each year. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 68,720 new melanomas will be diagnosed in the United States during 2010.

ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for reminding me how scary skin cancer is! haha People that love tanning are nuts. On the rare occasions I do it I just lay there, paranoid about getting cancer...How is that enjoyable?!?!
I'll be sure to layer all the kids up in sun screen that I babysit. It's scary to think that sun can do that much damage to our skins.
ReplyDeleteSkin cancer is scary because I always wonder if I could get it later in life since I love to tan in the summers and then "fake bake" during winters. I know I see older women all the time that look like dryed out leather whose skin is so tight and wrinkle it is gross. Our society does need to start realizing being tan all the time isn't healthy and will lead to getting skin cancer.
